‘Hemicycle Views’: Interviewing MEP Elisabetta Gardini (EPP)

This week’s insights come from inside the office of Italian MEP, Elisabetta Gardini. Following a successful career in television and theatre, Gardini devoted herself to politics in 2004 when she became spokesperson of Italy’s national party, Forza Italia.

Then in 2008 Gardini entered the European Parliament, replacing Renato Brunetta. After the 2009 elections, she returned for a full five-year term as member of the EPP. She has, in total, served three parliamentary terms and was appointed leader of the new Forza Italia Party in 2014.

Gardini sits on the Committee for Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI).

As part of our ‘Hemicycle Views’ videos, we asked her:

  • How do you perceive the role of the European Parliament?
  • Can you name a file you have found particularly challenging?
  • How do you see the future of Europe?
