2019 represents the “Year of Change” for the European Union (a new European Parliament, a new political leadership for the European Commission, and the formal departure of the UK as a member of the EU).
With the European elections coming up in 2019, Senior Vice President and Director of Public Affairs, Teresa Calvano, notes what issues you should have on your radar in the technology sector.
Artificial intelligence (AI), data and blockchain are set to be hot topics in the coming years for the EU. Businesses have already seen the effects of data protection regulations but will continue to see more discussion around data access, ownership and liability. Some of these same principles will also see more discussion within the EU institutions with how they pertain to the newer innovations of blockchain and AI.
Calvano provides her expertise on what debates policymakers and businesses will need to be prepared for with each issue and the features of the technology sector that will drive these to the forefront of topics in 2019.
While the new elections may not be for another year, that doesn’t mean that you can afford to wait to start engaging and influencing. Read more about our #FHYearofChange video series and stay tuned for more insights from the FleishmanHillard team!
