This week FleishmanHillard and SHV Energy won an European Excellence Award in Public Affairs for The FREE Report. The report, which won in the ‘Report of the Year’ category, was produced by FleishmanHillard for SHV Energy as part of its Future of Rural Energy in Europe (FREE) initiative and examined the current energy landscape of rural Europe. It also looked forward towards 2030, to explore the potential of these areas to reduce their emissions of CO2 and air pollutants. Ultimately, it concluded that even modest changes to the rural energy mix could save 100 million tonnes of CO2, both protecting the health and wellbeing of rural citizens and helping Europe achieve its climate and energy goals. The category was hotly contested by many other associations and stakeholders, such as the European Defense Association, with a panel of experts deciding on the winner.
