On 10 October 2016, FleishmanHillard Brussels hosted a roundtable event organized by the College of Europe Alumni Energy Group on the upcoming legislative package to reform Europe’s power markets.
How to re-invent Europe’s electricity system? Will the European Commission be able to “make markets fit for renewables and renewables fit for markets”? What is the role of conventional generation in the new system? These were amongst the questions addressed during the event.
Moderated by James Stevens, alumnus of the College of Europe and FleishmanHillard Senior Partner, the roundtable brought together more than 40 alumni and saw a lively exchange of views with the following distinguished panelists:
- Oliver Koch, Deputy Head of Unit for Wholesale Markets, DG Energy, European Commission
- Lineke den OUDEN, First Secretary, Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the EU
- Nicola MELCHIOTTI, Head of European Public Affairs and Regulation, Enel
The CoE Alumni Energy Group is a newly established organization bringing together alumni of the postgraduate university institute College of Europe working and sharing an interest in the energy sector. It wishes to promote innovative ideas for the European energy policy and to build up an energy community of former and current students.
