In the wave of national elections in Spain, our final interview is with MEP Soledad Cabezón Ruiz, a politician for the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party and member of the European S&D Group.

Since joining the European Parliament in 2014, as Member of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee (ENVI) Cabezón has worked on topics such as promoting citizens’ rights and access to health. She shared her experience with us,  as well as some thoughts on how to bring the EU closer to its citizens.

We asked her:

  1. Based on your experience, how do you see the role of the European Parliament – both in terms of co-decision and representation of the interests of society?
  2. During your time in the ENVI Committee, which dossiers have been of particular relevance for you?
  3. Do you think the next EU Elections will be different from the previous ones? If so, why?
