‘Hemicycle Views’: Interviewing MEP Luděk Niedermayer (EPP)

Luděk Niedermayer is a politician and economist from Czech Republic. He first stepped onto the European Parliamentary scene in 2014 as a member of TOP 09, part of the European People’s Party. Before entering European politics Niedermayer was an economist, holding several public and private sector roles. Subsequently, he has spent much of his time in the European Parliament working on tax issues and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) in the European Parliament.

  1. How do you see the future of Europe in the context of the upcoming elections?
  2. You have played a lead role in the fight against tax evasion. What are the main lessons?
  3. What are the issues that have been particularly important for your group and for the future MEP’s?
  4. Will there be an improvement in Czechia’s election turnout compared to the previous one?
