Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Brussels office of FleishmanHillard has an immediate opening for an energetic, self-starting junior public affairs and communications professional with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience. The Consultant will contribute to the definition and implementation of communication programs both at an EU-level and across member states. The Consultant will be part of the established Public Affairs team, with a specific focus on the Healthcare sector. They will also have the opportunity to work with the office’s Senior Vice President, Digital Strategy and Campaigns.
Within our Brussels office, the Public Affairs team consists of 30 full-time consultants, with the healthcare team advising a range of organisations including blue-chip international healthcare companies, trade associations and campaigning charities. We develop integrated communications campaigns that engage a wide range of audiences, addressing regulatory issues and matters of political importance. Specifically, we advise our clients on their dialogue and negotiations with EU policy makers and institutions, and develop the wider advocacy strategies that support this engagement. As part of a wider team we collaborate with colleagues across the office on their specific areas of expertise including technology, taxation and energy policy, and we work with colleagues in other FleishmanHillard offices across our EMEA and Global network.
Experience & skills required
Candidates will have a first working experience relating to communications, ideally with some experience or interest in the public health sector or issues. This experience should ideally be acquired working with the EU institutions, EU trade associations, in-house or through a communications consultancy.
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent writing skills for web, print and social media
- Content expertise including creative writing and copy writing
- A high degree of fluency in English a must
- An interest in health policy
- Experience in the use of social media channels for communications relating to public policy
- Strong focus in a career in communications
- Dynamic team player and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of client business operations (beyond communications)
- Must be motivated and results-driven
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Proficient in most common business software applications
