Barbara Mariani joined the FleishmanHillard Team in Brussels as vice president in the Energy Practice in July 2017. Before joining Consulting, Barbara acquired a wide and in-depth knowledge of European business working for the Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria) in Brussels as Senior Adviser and Advocacy Manager on Climate, Energy and Environment Policies from 2010 to 2017. She was involved in advocacy on the reform of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, as well as on key pieces of legislation in the energy field (Gas SoS, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy). She has been actively engaged in BusinesEurope Working Groups and Task Forces. She was a member of the business delegation to Madrid Gas Forum and to the COP21 in Paris. Before this, Barbara worked as Climate, Energy and Environment Policy Adviser for the British Embassy in Rome from 2002 to 2010.
Barbara has been dealing with European policies and politics since the beginning of her professional career. She holds a University degree in Literature and Languages from La Sapienza University in Rome and a Post-graduate certificate in Environmental Economics from Tor Vergata University in Rome.
Barbara is an Italian national and also speaks French (proficient), Spanish and German.
