Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Brussels office of FleishmanHillard has an immediate opening for an energetic, self-starting junior public affairs and communications professional with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. The Consultant will contribute to the definition and implementation of public affairs programmes from direct engagement to social media, focused on EU public affairs audiences. The Consultant will directly report to the Head of the Food and Agriculture Team.
Within our Brussels office, our Food & Ag practice advises a range of organisations including blue-chip international food, retail and agro-chemical companies. We develop public affairs communications campaigns that engage a wide range of audiences, addressing regulatory issues and matters of political importance. Specifically, we advise our clients on their dialogue and negotiations with EU policy makers and institutions, and develop the wider advocacy strategies that support this engagement.
As part of a wider team we collaborate with colleagues across the office on their specific areas of expertise including chemical, taxation and health policy, and we work with colleagues in other FleishmanHillard offices across our EMEA and Global network.
Candidates will have a first working experience relating to public affairs and communications, ideally with some experience or interest in the food or agro-chemical sector. This experience should ideally be acquired working with the EU institutions, EU trade associations, in-house or through a communications consultancy.
The successful candidate will have:
- Good understanding of EU policy-making and dynamics
- Interest in agro-food sector and in policy issues most impacting that sector
- A high degree of fluency in English a must
- Excellent writing skills for web, print and social media
- Commitment to the highest standards of service delivery
- Ability to manage multiple issues and deadlines
- Entrepreneurial and creative approach to problem solving
- Ability to build and maintain trusting relationships
- Dynamic, supportive, collaborative and willing team player
- Desire to build a long term career in a leading Brussels-based consultancy
